Residents at Rose House, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, in Doncaster enjoyed a fun-filled celebration of American culture as part of the home’s ongoing ‘Passport Around the World’ initiative.
The initiative encourages residents to explore different countries and cultures through themed activities, entertainment, food and conversation, bringing new experiences directly to the care home.
For the latest stop on their cultural journey, Rose House was transformed into an American-inspired celebration, bringing residents, staff, families and friends together for a day of music, food and entertainment.
A highlight of the event was a fantastic performance from a Dolly Parton tribute entertainer, who helped create a lively atmosphere with music that encouraged residents to sing along, enjoy the show and reminisce about familiar songs and memories.
Residents also enjoyed delicious American diner-style food, offering a taste of traditional favourites while exploring a different culinary culture. The combination of music, food and themed activities created opportunities for residents to socialise, share memories and enjoy time together.
Staff, families and friends all played a part in bringing the theme to life, helping to create a welcoming and engaging experience for everyone involved.
The ‘Passport Around the World’ initiative forms part of Rose House’s commitment to providing meaningful, varied experiences that reflect residents’ interests and encourage social connection. Through themed days, residents can explore different cultures, revisit memories and enjoy familiar music, food and traditions in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Louise Bancroft, Lifestyle Coordinator at Rose House, said:
“I feel very lucky to be able to bring these ideas to life and to see first-hand the happiness they bring to our residents. That’s what makes my role so rewarding.”
The USA-themed day was a wonderful opportunity for the Rose House community to enjoy a little taste of America together, demonstrating how creative activities and shared experiences can bring joy and connection to everyday life in the home.
