Rose House, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, brought the excitement, glamour and fun of Doncaster’s famous St Leger Festival to life with its very own race-day celebration.

The festivities took place as the 2026 festival marked the 250th running of the St Leger Stakes, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic afternoon filled with racing-themed activities, creativity and plenty of fun.

Residents embraced the race-day spirit by creating their very own handmade fascinators, adding a touch of elegance and creativity to the celebrations.

Lifestyle Coordinator Louise hosted Rose House’s very own betting tote, giving residents the chance to choose their horses and get involved in the excitement of the races. Lifestyle Support Sharon also joined in the fun, taking on the role of jockey and helping to bring the races to life.

No race-day celebration would be complete without refreshments, and residents enjoyed glasses of prosecco alongside the classic combination of strawberries and cream, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

From designing fascinators and choosing horses to cheering on the races, residents enthusiastically took part in the activities and enjoyed the festivities together.

Bringing familiar local events such as the St Leger Festival into Rose House provides residents with opportunities to reminisce, be creative and enjoy shared experiences with friends and colleagues.

The celebration encouraged conversation, laughter and participation, creating a special afternoon for everyone involved. It also highlighted the importance of bringing the local community and familiar traditions into life at Rose House, helping residents continue to enjoy the occasions that mean so much to them.
