Residents and team members at Eve Belle Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, have come together to recognise the dedication and bravery of local firefighters by creating a collection of handmade appreciation cards for crews serving Basildon and the surrounding communities.
The thoughtful initiative was inspired by the challenging conditions firefighters continue to face, particularly during periods of extreme heat when the risk of fires increases significantly. Wanting to express their gratitude, residents spent time designing and writing heartfelt messages to thank those who work tirelessly to keep local communities safe.
As part of the initiative, Eve Belle has also invited local firefighters to visit the home for a special lunch or afternoon tea, providing residents with the opportunity to personally thank them for their unwavering commitment and service.
Among those taking part was resident Audrey, whose grandson George serves as a firefighter at Wickford Fire Station. Speaking about the tribute, Audrey said:
“George is a firefighter. He manages his job very well and I am very proud of the hard work he does every day and for the passion and commitment to saving people’s lives. I love him very much.”
Arrianne, Home Manager at Eve Belle, said:
“Our residents wanted to do something meaningful to show firefighters how much they are appreciated. They work tirelessly, often in very difficult and dangerous circumstances, yet continue to protect our communities without hesitation. These cards have been made with genuine gratitude and love, and we hope they remind firefighters just how valued they are.”
The initiative reflects Eve Belle’s ongoing commitment to supporting the local community and recognising those who make a positive difference in the lives of others. By combining creativity with kindness, residents were able to express their appreciation while strengthening connections with the emergency services that work so hard to protect the local community.
