Monday 2nd June marks the beginning of National Volunteers’ Week, an annual celebration recognising the incredible contributions volunteers make to communities across the country.
To mark the occasion, The Belmont Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, is proud to celebrate the dedication of one of its young volunteers, Ella Skeets.
Ella first became involved with The Belmont earlier this year through The Mason Foundation, when she joined a team from Tudor Grange School to support an eco-garden project. Since then, the 15-year-old has continued her volunteering journey, now supporting the weekly Connect Dementia Café, held every Thursday afternoon at the home.
Ella works closely with The Belmont‘s Lifestyle Coordinator, Mark, assisting with all aspects of the café—facilitating seated exercise sessions, serving refreshments, and helping organise games and activities. Over the past few months, staff and residents alike have seen her confidence and community engagement blossom.
Her contribution has made a noticeable difference to the group, and her warm, intergenerational connections with residents are a joy to witness.
The Belmont extends its heartfelt thanks to Ella for her commitment, and to all volunteers who continue to make a positive impact on the lives of others each day.
The Connect Dementia Café is open to the wider Worcestershire community. It is free to attend and does not require booking. All are welcome to join in the activities, build friendships, and enjoy the welcoming, supportive space designed for individuals and families affected by dementia.
