On the 8th of August, Joyce, a resident of The Belmont care home, part of the Sanders Senior Living group, made a generous donation to the Maggs Day Centre Clothing Project. This act of kindness underscores the community spirit and commitment to supporting those in need.
Joyce, having recently decluttered her wardrobe, chose to donate the clothes she no longer needed to Maggs Day Centre after learning about their appeal for donations on social media. Enthusiastic about contributing, Joyce expressed a strong desire to deliver the items in person.
Carla Sidaway, the Care Home’s Customer Relations Manager, and Mark Owen, Wellbeing Lead, coordinated with Maggs Day Centre’s Marketing and Relations Manager, Melissa Blewitt, to arrange the visit. The Belmont team transported Joyce to the centre in their very own private minibus. Upon arrival, Melissa welcomed them and provided a tour of the centre, showcasing the services and facilities available to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Joyce was delighted to hand over her donated clothes and appreciated the opportunity to meet Melissa and gain insight into the centre’s operations. After the visit, the group enjoyed a cup of tea at a local garden centre.
Melissa Blewitt, Marketing and Relations Manager at Maggs Day Centre, expressed her gratitude, stating, “We want to say a huge thank you to Joyce for thinking of Maggs and donating her clothes to our Clothing Project. It was wonderful for the team to bring Joyce down and allow us to show them the shop and the items we currently stock for people experiencing homelessness across the county. We look forward to continuing our partnership with The Belmont care home.”
Reflecting on her donation, Joyce noted, “I was very pleased to donate my clothes to Maggs. It was good to see behind the scenes and learn more about their work. I hope to visit again sometime.”
Mark Owen, Wellbeing Lead at The Belmont care home, commented, “It was a pleasure to take Joyce down to Maggs Day Centre and meet Melissa. It’s wonderful to see our residents actively contributing to the community, and we look forward to future opportunities to support Maggs.”
This donation not only supported a worthy cause but also deepened the bond between The Belmont care home and Maggs Day Centre. It highlights the importance of community engagement and the positive impact of supporting each other and building meaningful connections.
