IMG 8197Graysford Hall Care Home was proud to welcome several distinguished visitors in June as part of a ground-breaking research project focusing on the safe management of linen in residential, nursing, and social care settings.

The delegation included Professor Katie Laird, Professor of Microbiology and Deputy Director of the Leicester Institute for Pharmaceutical and Health Innovation. The visit was also supported by Samantha Coulson, Infection Prevention and Control Nurse for Leicester.

The team visited Graysford Hall to observe laundry processes, review infection prevention measures, and discuss day-to-day operational practices. The research will help shape national guidance for safe linen management across health and social care environments in the UK.

Home Manager Sorina Tanasa said:

“It was an honour to be chosen as an example of good practice and to host such an inspiring group of professionals. We take great pride in maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control, and it’s been wonderful to share our processes and contribute to something that will benefit the wider care sector.”

Following the visit, Graysford Hall continues to collaborate with the research team, providing feedback and practical insights as they develop a new national training module on safe linen handling.

“This project shows how research and frontline practice can come together for real impact,” Sorina added. “We feel privileged to play a small part in shaping safer and more effective standards for care homes everywhere.”

Graysford Hall remains committed to supporting innovation, and partnerships that help raise the quality of care and safety for residents across the UK.
