Chalkwell Grange Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, brought residents and staff together to celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions represented within its community during a special Cultural Day.
The event celebrated the many different backgrounds of the team at Chalkwell Grange, with staff from across the world coming together to share their heritage, traditions and favourite foods with residents.
Staff proudly represented countries including Mexico and the Philippines, as well as many other parts of the world, by preparing traditional dishes and wearing colourful outfits inspired by their cultures.
Residents enjoyed the opportunity to sample new and familiar flavours while learning more about the traditions and experiences of the people who care for them. The celebration also prompted conversations, memories and stories, with residents and staff sharing their own backgrounds and experiences with one another.
The day created a wonderful atmosphere of connection and belonging, while giving everyone the chance to celebrate the things that make each person unique.
Chalkwell Grange Home Manager Marina said:
“I’m so proud of my team and it was wonderful that so many residents now want to share their own heritage and traditions.”
Residents also enjoyed the celebrations, with Ann saying: “The food was great and the staff looked wonderful.”
Fellow resident Mary added: “The food was fabulous.”
At Chalkwell Grange, celebrations like Cultural Day provide opportunities for residents and staff to connect, share their experiences and learn from one another, helping to create a warm and inclusive community where everyone feels valued and celebrated.
