Since opening its doors in August 2022, Eve Belle Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, has been proud to foster a heartwarming partnership with North Crescent Primary School, bringing together residents and pupils in a meaningful intergenerational initiative that continues to flourish.

The weekly visits, which have now been running for three and a half years, see children and teachers from North Crescent spending time with residents at Eve Belle. Together, they celebrate differences, share experiences, and learn from one another in an atmosphere that is always fun, welcoming and full of joy.

Teachers from North Crescent Primary School shared their thoughts on the programme:

“We really appreciate the opportunity to visit weekly as this allows the children to appreciate and respect the local community, especially here at Eve Belle. It helps the children to understand and value the older generation and the experiences they share through their stories. The visits also encourage oracy, with pupils reading books to adults, which supports their learning. Over the past three and a half years, we have built strong relationships and shared experiences through attending school events and visiting Eve Belle, embedding a greater awareness and understanding of others.”

The impact of the initiative is perhaps best summed up by Regie, a Year 4 pupil who visited recently and said:
“When I get old, I would like to live here at Eve Belle.”

The idea behind the partnership was simple yet powerful, to build a genuine connection between generations. Over time, it has grown into something truly special. Residents benefit from increased social interaction, companionship and the energy children bring, while pupils gain confidence, empathy and a deeper appreciation for older generations.

Eve Belle remains committed to strengthening its community links and continuing this valued partnership, ensuring that every Monday is filled with smiles, stories and shared experiences across the generations.
