Sanders Senior Living has held its very first Resident Ambassador Meeting, bringing together resident ambassadors from homes across the UK for an opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and feedback directly with the senior team.
Held virtually via Microsoft Teams, the meeting marked the beginning of an exciting initiative designed to ensure residents have a direct voice in shaping life across Sanders Senior Living homes.
The meeting focused on food and dining this month, giving residents the opportunity to talk openly about their experiences, share what they enjoy and highlight any areas where they felt improvements could be made.
The meeting began with introductions from members of the Sanders Senior Living senior team, followed by introductions from resident ambassadors where team members had not had the opportunity to meet them previously. Residents were then invited to share their thoughts on everything from the variety and quality of meals to how well their individual dietary preferences and requirements are catered for.
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with residents sharing:
“Lovely food and the chefs are accommodating.”
“Great variety of food. The chefs come by daily and always ensure my food requirements are catered for.”
“Very impressed with the food.”
“The cakes here are first-class.”
The meeting also demonstrated how resident feedback can lead to quick and meaningful action. Several residents shared that they would like to see a new coffee machine available at their home, and the request was promptly actioned, ensuring their suggestion became a reality.
Residents and the senior team also discussed sustainability and food waste, exploring practical ways homes could work together to reduce waste while continuing to provide enjoyable, varied and personalised dining experiences.
The conversation highlighted the importance of listening to residents when making decisions about dining and ensuring that their preferences remain at the heart of the experience.
The Resident Ambassador Meeting is intended to become a regular opportunity for residents from across the Sanders Senior Living group to come together with the senior team, discuss different topics and help shape the future of life within the homes.
By creating a direct channel between residents and senior leadership, Sanders Senior Living is continuing to strengthen its commitment to person-centred care, meaningful resident engagement and ensuring every resident’s voice is heard.
The first meeting provided a valuable opportunity to listen, learn and celebrate the dining experiences already being enjoyed across Sanders homes, while identifying ways to continue improving them together.
