On the 6th of October, Graysford Hall, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, hosted a heart-warming Silver Sunday celebration—a national day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the contributions of older people in society. The event brought together residents, their families, and local elders for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and community spirit.

The day was filled with free activities, starting with a lively game of prize bingo. The residents, alongside guests from the Leicester Re-engage group, led by Wendy Morris from Croma Church, enjoyed the excitement as they marked off their cards, hoping to shout “Bingo!” The fun didn’t stop there, as musical entertainer Rob Wilson took to the stage, filling the room with popular tunes that had everyone singing and clapping along.

Giovanni, one of the residents at Graysford Hall, once again became the life of the party. As Rob performed, Giovanni encouraged everyone to get up and dance, living every moment to the fullest, as he always does. His infectious energy had everyone up on their feet, proving that age is just a number when it comes to having fun.

The celebration continued with a luxurious cream tea, giving everyone the chance to chat, make new friends, and enjoy delicious scones and cakes. The atmosphere was joyful and full of life, with the residents, guests, and staff all coming together in the spirit of Silver Sunday.

Jayne Hill, Graysford Hall’s Lifestyle Coordinator, expressed her delight at the success of the event:
“It was a wonderful afternoon of fun and togetherness. It’s so important to show that life doesn’t stop as we age—there’s always more to experience, and events like these allow our residents to continue making new friendships and memories.”

Norma, a member of the Leicester Re-engage group, added:
“I had a lovely afternoon, really have. The team here made everyone feel so welcome, and the activities were so much fun.”

Graysford Hall continues to celebrate the joy of living well in later life, and Silver Sunday was a beautiful reminder of the vibrancy, strength, and contributions of older people in our communities. The home looks forward to hosting more events that bring people together, ensuring that age is no barrier to having fun and staying connected.
