Residents and staff at Chelmunds Court, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, were delighted to welcome the local fire brigade from Sheldon for a special community visit on 10th September.
The firefighters brought a fire engine directly to the home, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy an interactive, hands-on experience and take a closer look at the vehicle and the specialised equipment used by the crew.
Residents were able to explore the fire engine up close, inspect the firefighters’ gear and chat with members of the team about modern firefighting equipment and their important work in the local community. The visit also sparked plenty of conversations, with residents sharing their own stories and memories.
Visits such as these provide a valuable opportunity for residents to connect with the wider community while creating meaningful experiences that can inspire memories, conversations and new interests.
Kera Budge, Lifestyle Coordinator at Chelmunds Court, said: “Residents commented that it was so nice getting close to the fire engine and getting the chance to thank the staff from the Sheldon fire team for all their hard work.”
The visit was enjoyed by residents, staff and families alike, with the team at Chelmunds Court extending their thanks to Sheldon Fire Brigade for taking the time to visit and create such a special experience for everyone involved.
