The kitchen team at Chalkwell Grange Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, recently took part in specialist training on the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), reinforcing Sanders Senior Living’s commitment to providing safe, personalised nutrition for residents.

The training session focused on working through all levels of IDDSI preparation, ensuring the team understands the requirements for preparing food and drinks with modified textures and consistencies. This is particularly important for residents who require texture-modified diets to support their individual swallowing needs.

Alongside IDDSI preparation, the team also reviewed safety pause procedures, further strengthening their understanding of the checks and processes that help maintain residents’ safety and wellbeing.

The training forms part of a wider initiative across Sanders Senior Living, with IDDSI competency being rolled out to staff throughout the group. This ongoing commitment aims to ensure teams have the knowledge and skills needed to meet residents’ individual dietary requirements with care and confidence.
