Residents at Grace Court care home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, enjoyed a visit from a bird of prey team, offering a unique opportunity to meet owls up close and discover more about these fascinating birds.
The visit took place on 10 October 2026 at the Canvey Island care home, where the visiting team brought the owls around the home to ensure residents could enjoy the experience at their own pace.
In a thoughtful approach to inclusion, the birds and their handlers visited residents individually. This meant everyone had the opportunity to take part, regardless of their mobility or ability to join group activities.
The visit sparked smiles, curiosity and conversation as residents marvelled at the owls at close quarters. For many, the chance to encounter the birds in such a personal and engaging way made the experience particularly special.
At Grace Court, activities and experiences are designed to support residents’ wellbeing, encourage social interaction and bring enjoyment to everyday life. By offering a varied programme of events and making activities accessible to everyone, the home aims to ensure every resident has opportunities to feel connected, included and engaged.
Lucie, Home Manager at Grace Court, said: “It was lovely to see the smiles on our residents’ faces during the birds of prey visit. The chance to see the owls up close was something really special, and I particularly loved that the team went around the home and into residents’ rooms so nobody had to miss out.
“Creating meaningful, enjoyable experiences that include everyone is so important to us at Grace Court, and this was a wonderful day for our residents.”
