The Belmont Luxury Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living group, recently had the pleasure of supporting resident Ann in rediscovering her passion for flower arranging. Ann, a former florist, was thrilled to return to her roots and create beautiful flower displays once again on the 15th of January 2025.
Ann still has a collection of floristry tools in her room, so the team, along with her daughter Nicky, brought out the equipment and a vibrant selection of fresh flowers to inspire her. Ann, who has always loved to “tinker about with things,” was thrilled to reconnect with this cherished hobby. With a little help from Nicky, Ann created three stunning flower displays for the care home. The pride Ann felt was visible as she admired her finished arrangements, and the positive reactions from residents and staff only enhanced the joy of the day.
“It’s always wonderful to see our residents rediscover a talent they once enjoyed. Ann was so proud of her work, and it was a heartwarming experience for us all,” said Carla Sidaway, The Belmont’s Customer Relations Manager.
“We’re so grateful to have such a creative resident like Ann in our home. It’s moments like these that remind us of the difference we can make in our residents’ lives, and seeing the happiness her work brought to everyone was truly special,” added Steph Howard, The Belmont’s Home Manager.
“Mum had a wonderful afternoon and was overwhelmed by the positive reactions from everyone. It was such a meaningful experience, and I’m so grateful to see her confidence and self-worth shine again,” said Nicky, Ann’s daughter.
“The reaction from everyone has been lovely. Thank you for making such a big thing of this. I really enjoyed it!” said Ann.
The Belmont Luxury Care Home is excited to continue offering Ann the chance to explore her floristry skills, with plans in the works for more flower arranging activities in the near future.
