A resident at Wilton Manor Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, with a long-standing passion for fundraising has brought the local community together to raise £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Vicky McIntosh MBE, a resident at Wilton Manor, organised a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the care home, opening its doors to residents, families, friends and members of the local community.

The event featured a selection of homemade cakes prepared by Wilton Manor’s chefs, as well as family and friends, alongside live music which encouraged guests and residents to get up and dance. Together, the event raised £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Fundraising has always been close to Vicky’s heart. She was awarded an MBE by the late Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of her charitable work, including her efforts to help secure a new hospital wing. Throughout her life, Vicky has organised and taken part in numerous fundraising activities, including running marathons to help raise money to rebuild the roof of a village hall.

Having continued her fundraising efforts while living at Wilton Manor, Vicky was keen to organise an event for Macmillan Cancer Support, a cause particularly meaningful to her as someone living with cancer herself.

Louise said: “We are very proud at Wilton Manor to support our residents in fulfilling their wishes, and it was wonderful to support Vicky in organising an event for a charity which is so important to so many people. There was a fabulous turnout and everyone really enjoyed eating delicious cakes, chatting with each other and even getting up to dance.”

Vicky McIntosh MBE said: “I have always enjoyed raising money for charity and have many fond memories of the work that I have done in the past. I am already thinking about what we can do next year.”

The event was a wonderful example of how residents at Wilton Manor are supported to continue their interests, passions and charitable work, while bringing people together and making a positive contribution to the wider community.
