Wilton Manor Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, brought residents, families and the local community together for a fun-filled afternoon, raising an impressive £901 for Melton Storehouse.

Taking place on Friday 21st of August, the family fun day event featured something for everyone, including a delicious BBQ, live singing, a magician, face painting, arts and crafts stalls, a tombola and raffle. One of the afternoon’s highlights was a special visit from local para-swimmer Andy Banks, who brought along his Olympic torch for residents and guests to see and hold.

The Family Fun Day was made possible with the generous support of a number of local businesses, who donated prizes for the raffle, including Baubles and Bangles, Yum Yum Shop, The Creative Collective, The Glass Pantry, Time Out Café, The Melton Cheeseboard and a local florist.

Alongside providing an enjoyable afternoon for residents and the community, Wilton Manor was keen to use the event to support the important work of Melton Storehouse. The charity provides a free community café, foodbank and warm space for local people during the winter months.

Wilton Manor previously supported Melton Storehouse through a Harvest Festival collection last autumn. Following the collection, several residents visited the Storehouse and were impressed by the work being carried out to support people in the local community. Having experienced the warm welcome from the charity first-hand, residents and the team at Wilton Manor were keen to continue their support.

Louise, Customer Support and Lifestyle Lead, said:

“We would like to thank everybody who contributed to making this such a special day. It was wonderful to see how much everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Natalie Stathakis from Melton Storehouse said:

“What a lovely afternoon. It was great to see all the residents, family and community enjoying themselves as well as the entertainment. Thank you for your hospitality, as well as the kind contribution from the fun day, it is much appreciated.”

Helen Cooke, Home Manager, added:

“It was an amazing, wholesome family and friends day and we are so thankful for all the community support.”

The £901 raised will help Melton Storehouse continue its valuable work within the local community, supporting those who need a helping hand.

Wilton Manor would like to thank everyone who attended, donated, volunteered and supported the event, as well as the local businesses who generously contributed raffle prizes and helped make the day such a success.
