Wilton Manor Care Home, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group, is delighted to be hosting regular sessions with Leicester Musical Memory Box, a music-powered not-for-profit organisation that delivers community-based groups across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The sessions use music, singing and shared memories to bring people together in a welcoming and supportive environment. Residents and visitors alike can enjoy familiar songs, conversation and meaningful moments created through the power of music.
Wilton Manor has introduced the Leicester Musical Memory Box sessions as a regular activity at the home, taking place on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 10:30am. The sessions are open not only to residents but also to members of the local community, creating a relaxed and enjoyable space where people can come together, socialise and enjoy music together.
The sessions are run by the team from Leicester Musical Memory Box alongside the Wilton Manor team. Residents take part in the sessions while members of the wider community are warmly welcomed to join in and experience the uplifting atmosphere.
Louise, Lifestyle Lead, commented:
“We are really excited to be hosting the Musical Memory Box at Wilton Manor. For over a year, we have been attending these fantastic sessions alongside the community and we see the benefits it brings – it lifts the mood of those joining in and we really notice a difference in our residents with dementia. They often find communication easier after a session and have even succeeded in learning completely new songs. It also provides valuable moments of respite and joy to carers. We welcome the community with open arms and look forward to seeing them.”
Music has a powerful ability to spark memories, lift moods and bring people together. By hosting Leicester Musical Memory Box at Wilton Manor, the home hopes to create valuable opportunities for connection and wellbeing, particularly for people living with memory loss or those who may be experiencing loneliness.
