Claridge Place care home in Solihull, took a significant step towards supporting families dealing with dementia by launching the Forget Me Not Café on Monday the 22nd of January. This compassionate initiative is aimed at providing a supportive community for relatives of Claridge Place residents and the broader local community.

The launch event opened with a memorable performance by classical singer Samantha, who took attendees on a nostalgic journey down memory lane. Samantha also fulfilled a resident’s wish by singing their favourite song, “Country Road.” The event included a raffle featuring generously donated items, including a wash and blow-dry by the in-house hairdresser and a gel manicure from the resident beautician. Care team member Rachel contributed by crafting homemade forget-me-nots and keyrings to raise funds.

Rachel and Amanda, two dedicated members of the care team, led the launch of the Forget Me Not Café, ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere. The wellbeing team contributed to the setup, constructing a delightful balloon arch. Rachel, a caring team member, added a personal touch by baking homemade cakes for the occasion.

Families were also provided with Dementia UK support books, offering valuable insights on how to cope with a loved one living with dementia. The Forget Me Not Café strives to create a safe and supportive environment, providing connections among families facing similar challenges.

James Morris, Senior General Manager at Claridge Place, said: “We were delighted to launch our Forget Me Not Café, and it was a huge success. We have a dedicated team here at Claridge Place, and we all, together, share a passion for providing the best level of care for all of our residents. This extends to our relatives.
