On Friday, 27th September, Chalkwell Grange, part of the Sanders Senior Living Group , hosted a special intergenerational event, welcoming children from a local school for a lunchtime ukulele performance. The children, accompanied by their teachers, visited during their lunch break, much to the delight of the residents.

The afternoon was filled with music and smiles as the young performers showcased their ukulele skills, filling the home with joyful tunes. Residents gathered in anticipation, enjoying the chance to listen to live music and interact with the younger generation. For many, the combination of music and the presence of children created a truly special and memorable experience.

The event highlighted the power of music and intergenerational connection. It provided residents with a chance to reminisce, engage, and simply enjoy the company of young people. For the children, it was a valuable opportunity to share their music and bring happiness to the older generation.

Margaret, a resident at Chalkwell Grange, expressed her joy at the performance:
“I loved listening to the children play. There were two young boys who had not been playing for more than a few weeks. It was lovely to have young people in the home, and I enjoyed listening to the music they played. I would love for them to come back again.”

The ukulele performance was a great success, combining two beloved activities—music and time with children—that brought immense joy to the residents. Chalkwell Grange looks forward to welcoming the children back for future performances and continuing to foster these important intergenerational connections.
